Traumatised...

So the other day I was disturbed by a picture doing the rounds on facebook.

A bomb victim. He'd lost both legs at the knee and all that remained was a broken long bone protruding from a flap of skin.

Like... seriously... I'll never ever get that image out of my head. What is wrong with the world that they think its ok to put this stuff out there now. When I was a kid the worst thing you'd see on the TV was an ambulance!

The pic is now being used by many news agencies but they have the decency to blur out the meat and broken bones.

And the man's father learned of his sons injuries when he saw the offending photo on facebook.

 WTF.

I feel better about seeing the disturbing images now that I've read a few articles about the man Jeff Bauman. He was there to see his girlfriend run in the marathon. Putting a name and a story to the face makes it real. He's no longer a piece of meat in a wheel chair.

I also have to come to terms with images like this as I'm about to study anatomy and physiology.

A friend of mine is a theatre nurse, I've asked her how she handles the blood and guts etc.... she said she loves it. I guess you'd have to!
